Allied Self Protection

Allied Self Protection

Learn simple and effective self-protection techniques suitable for adults of all ages and abilities. Learn not only physical techniques, but also the mindset on how to deal with adrenaline and confrontation from talking people down right up to striking and escape. We can also teach wheelchair users and adapt these techniques to suit.

Badminton

Basketball coaching

Basketball coaching

Basketball coaching is on at Aldersley every Wednesday from 4:30pm - 6pm for juniors and 5:30pm – 7pm for adults (14+). No booking required, just turn up at centre reception before lesson. Basketball involves a lot of starting and stopping. While not renowned as an aerobic sport, it is still a great workout that can help you:

  • burn calories (an hour of basketball can burn 630–750 calories)
  • build endurance – improve balance and coordination
  • develop concentration and self-discipline
  • build up muscle.

(5-A-Side) Indoor Football

(5-A-Side) Indoor Football

If fast, competitive and skillful football is your thing then you might be ready for 5-a-side. It can be a great way of getting an intense ‘after work’ work-out with a bunch of friends. And despite the official name it’s often played by 4 or 7 players a side, so however many of you there are you can still get involved.

TISKA Karate

TISKA Karate

TISKA Karate classes are suitable for adults and children from the age of 4 years old. The classes focus on the three main disciplines of Karate – Kihon, Kumite and Kata. The classes are suitable for beginners and those who are more advanced, and will help children with self-confidence, etiquette and discipline. Adults taking part can learn about self-defence and enjoy health and flexibility benefits. Both instructors are experienced 4th Dan Blackbelts.

BMKA Kickboxing

BMKA Kickboxing promotes physical and mental wellbeing to instil discipline, respect and a sense of achievement and belonging through training. Sessions are led by former World Kickboxing Champion and 6th Degree Black Belt, Ray Hoffman. All beginners are welcome and separate children and adult classes are offered. All beginners will get four free trial taster lesson with no obligation to join.


Tuesdays 6.30pm – 7.30pm (Children). 8.00pm – 9.00pm (Adults).
Saturdays 10.00am – 11.00am Children.

Short tennis is played by both adults and children as a means to learn the basics of tennis before progressing to the full version of the sport. Short tennis is played with different equipment than used to play standard tennis, including soft balls, lowered nets and smaller rackets.

Soccer Coaching 2000

Soccer Coaching 2000

Youngsters can learn new techniques and expand on their existing skills in these fun football coaching sessions with Soccer Coaching 2000. Participants will need to wear trainers, shin pads and bring a drink.

Sessions take place every Monday and Friday for selected age groups:
5:30pm – 6:30pm: 4 – 7 year olds
6:30pm – 7:30pm: 8 – 12 year olds

Squash

50+ Sessions

50+ Sessions

WV Active leisure centres run morning and afternoon activity sessions specifically aimed at people over the age of 50. If you love Badminton, Short Tennis, Bowls and Table Tennis, come along to our turn up and play sessions and enjoy a game with like-minded people. Additional to the sports activities, a dedicated time slot has also been provided specifically for 50+ swim sessions.

There’s no need to book any of our 50+ sessions, so just come along in the appropriate clothing and pay for a ticket at reception. Please note there is no coach at these sessions.

50+ Sessions

Walking Football

Follows the same rules as the regular version of the game, but with walking instead of running. Suitable for individuals who haven’t played for a while or are not able to play the regular game due to an injury.
